Zoning Amendment to Settle Tax Appeal
Three ordinances are up for a vote at next week's council meeting.

A proposed zoning change to the Becton-Dickinson property would settle a tax appeal and make it easier for the company to expand. Ordinance 1512, which is expected to be on the agenda for next Tuesday’s municipal council meeting, amends zoning ordinance provisions for HOB-RL District.
“BD has reached a tentative agreement in our tax appeal process with the town,” Colleen White, director of corporate communications for BD, told Patch. “Part of the agreement includes a re-zoning to the property which would facilitate any potential future expansion on the site.”
In 2010, BD paid in excess of $2 million in taxes for the 16 parcels that comprise the corporate headquarters.
