ALBUQUERQUE, NM — Two 'generals' of a military-style New Mexico paramilitary Christian sect were ordered jailed while they face child sex abuse charges.
A Cibola County magistrate court judge set bond Tuesday for Deborah Green and Peter Green following a Sunday raid of the armed compound of the Aggressive Christianity Missions Training Corps in remote Fence Lake, New Mexico.
Sect co-leader Deborah Green was arrested on charges including failure to report a birth, child abuse and sexual penetration of a minor. She was jailed on a $500,000 secured bond. The Aggressive Christianity Missions Training Corps describes itself as a group that is "aggressive and revolutionary for Jesus" and provides a free spiritual "ammo pack" to anyone who writes. Photos of members show them in military-style clothing and on missions in Africa.
Its website is laced with anti-Semitic language and anti-gay tirades about same sex marriage.
The Southern Poverty Law Center lists the Aggressive Christianity Missions Training Corps as a hate group.
