ALBUQUERQUE, NM -- The nation is about to celebrate its 241st birthday, and it's time to watch the glorious explosions we know as fireworks. Events in the Albuquerque area range from simple fireworks shows to day-long extravaganzas.

  • Balloon Fiesta Park from 3 - 10 p.m.
  • Join us at Balloon Fiesta Park to celebrate our country's Independence Day. Enjoy the largest firework show in the state, food, local beer in the Microbrew Garden and free children activities.

Tuesday, July 4

  • Los Lunas Fireworks
  • Free entertainment begins at 4 p.m. at Daniel Fernandez Park, located at 1103 Highway 314. Fireworks at dusk.

  • Rio Rancho Fireworks Event (good alternative to avoid the crowds)
  • Park at Loma Colorado Park, $5 per vehicle (proceeds go to Rio Rancho High School booster club). Stadium opens at 6 p.m. No admission fee. Fireworks begin at 9:15 p.m. Alcohol-free event.

Tuesday, July 4

  • Socorro Fireworks, Concert, and Celebration
  • Music, a water slide and all sorts of activities. The event is free and will take place at the Macey Center on the New Mexico Tech campus. 11 a.m. to 10 a.m. BBQ and food for sale.
