'Green Book' Film Tops National Board Of Review 2018 Winners List

The awards circuit is in full swing as the National Board Of Review 2018 names "Green Book" best film and Lady Gaga earns top acting honor.

Let the Oscars countdown begin! The awards circuit has officially commenced, with the National Board of Review revealing this year's winners list. Recipients of the NBR awards will be recognized on January 8, 2019 during a ceremonial gala held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

Winners of the National Board of Review have proven to be a mixed-bag in terms of predicting how the following Oscars race will shape up. For example, NBR's top honor went to "A Most Violent Year" in 2014 and then the film went on to be completely snubbed months later by the Academy, noted THR. However, the National Board of Review was spot-on in following years when it awarded "The Post" (2017), "Manchester By The Sea"(2016) and "Mad Max: Fury Road" (2015) as top films, all of which went on to be big Oscar contenders in their respective years.

This season, NBR awarded best film to the buddy road-trip comedy "Green Book," which stars A-list talent Mahershala Ali and Viggo Mortensen. While Mortensen's work in the film also earned him a win for best actor, it is Lady Gaga nabbing the highly coveted best actress title that will have people buzzing in time for the Academy Awards to roll out their official nominations.
