NY Cop Adopts Abused Puppy He Rescued From Horrific Home
The 6-month-old puppy was emaciated, dehydrated and could hardly walk when the police officer rescued him from his home, officials said.

ACROSS NEW YORK β A 6-month-old puppy seized from a home in Niagara County, NY has found a new fur-ever home with the very officer who helped save his life.
According to the Niagara County SPCA, the puppy, whose name is Hemi, was seized from a home last month after an anonymous caller notified police that two dogs in a backyard appeared to be in rough condition.
An officer responded to the scene and noticed that one dog couldnβt put pressure on its leg. The other dog, Hemi, was emaciated, dehydrated and could hardly walk. His back leg was swollen and bruised so bad that the officer had to carry him, pet shelter officials said.

He was then rushed to a nearby veterinary hospital where he remained in the care of the SPCA for several weeks.
"Itβs heartbreaking to think that Hemi is just a baby and this terrible treatment is all he knows, but we assure you that his life will be better from here on out. Please pray for Hemi β and his friend β for a speedy recovery," SPCA workers said at the time of Hemi's rescue.

A GoFundMe page helped raised $6,600 to pay for Hemi's care.
Several weeks after Hemi's rescue and rehabilitation, he made a full recovery, SPCA officials confirmed. But the happy ending didn't stop there. The officer who saved Hemi from a bad situation decided to adopt him and give him a life suited for a king β best of all, just in time for Christmas.
"Hemi the abused puppy was adopted by the police officer who rescued him and never forgot about him.," the SPCA said in a Facebook post.
As for the other dog rescued along with Hemi, the SPCA said she is doing well and will be adopted by a local sheriff when she is medically cleared.
Meanwhile, the dogs' former owner has turned himself into authorities and has been charged with felony aggravated animal cruelty, according to the SPCA.
