Rochester Baby Drowned In Bathtub By Mom: Police
Markiya Mitchell, 25, admitted she deliberately drowned her 10-day-old son, police said

ROCHESTER, NY — A Rochester woman admitted she drowned her 10-day-old son in a bathtub on Monday, city police said.
Officers responded to the home Monday afternoon for a report of an unresponsive child and found the baby in a bathtub, police said.
The boy, Jeremiah, was declared dead at Rochester General Hospital, officials said.

His mother, Markiya Mitchell, 25, admitted she deliberately drowned her baby, police said. She was charged with second-degree murder and was arraigned on Tuesday morning in Rochester City Court. The name of the public defender assigned to her case wasn't available.
A relative is now caring for Mitchell's 7-year-old child, police said.
