Teen Dies In Snow Tubing Accident Saving Cousin: Reports
Police said the two hit a tree at the bottom of a sledding hill upstate.
LEWISTON, NY — A 16-year-old girl died snow tubing Saturday on a sledding hill at a Lewiston town park, but saved the 3-year-old cousin she was sledding with, according to news reports.
The Niagara County Sheriff's Office reported receiving a 911 call reporting an accident on the sledding hill at Clyde L. Burmaster Park at 10:14 a.m. Saturday.
Police said located the girl and the little boy were riding a sledding tube when they struck a tree at the bottom of the hill. The two were transported by ambulance to the John R. Oishei Children's Hospital in Buffalo, where she was pronounced dead.

Renee Hill's mother told WKBW in Buffalo that the high-school sophomore died saving her cousin, flipping the tube to throw him free before she hit the tree.
The incident is under investigation by the Town of Lewiston Police Department and the Niagara County Sheriff's Office.
