Lost your job? Had your hours reduced? The American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) provides premium assistance for health benefits under the Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA). For coverage periods beginning on or after April 1, 2021 through September 30, 2021, individuals who experienced an involuntary termination of employment or a reduction in hours may be eligible for 100% coverage of their COBRA premiums. On May 18, 2021, the IRS released Notice 2021-31, which provides implementation guidance.
