Freeze Warnings, Frost Advisory Issued In Hudson Valley

Crops and other sensitive vegetation could be killed and bring an end to the growing season.

The seasonal cool down continues as the Hudson Valley moves further into fall. The National Weather Service has issued warnings and advisories throughout the region with overnight temperatures approaching freezing. A freeze warning is in effect from 2 a.m. to 8 a.m. Friday for the Hudson River valley from the Poughkeepsie area northward into the Capital District.

The warning affects eastern Albany, western Rensselaer, eastern Greene, western Columbia, eastern Ulster and western Dutchess counties.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the lower 30s.

Orange and Putnam counties are also under a freeze warning in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid 30s. Again, crops and other sensitive vegetation could be killed, bringing the growing season to an end.

Northern Westchester is under a frost advisory, which is in effect from 3 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday.

The NWS said temps could be in the mid 30s, and frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.
