Local Physical Therapist to Present at Orlando Conference
Elizabeth O'Shaughnessy has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists' Annual Conference.

Physical Therapist Elizabeth O’Shaughnessy has been invited to speak at the 2019 American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists’ Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, on Oct. 26. O’Shaughnessy practices at Albany Medical Center Outpatient Physical Therapy, located at 99 Delaware Ave.
O’Shaughnessy will deliver a presentation entitled “Physical Therapy Treatment of Patients with Opioid Use, Misuse and Addiction in the presence of Chronic Pain.” The lecture will highlight current evidence in pain science, opioid pathophysiology, the effects of opioid use on the central nervous system and how physical therapy intervention - including manual therapy and exercise - can affect and optimize recovery. Revolutionizing the role of the physical therapist as a health care provider for individuals with opioid abuse will also be addressed.
O'Shaughnessy received her bachelor’s degree in performing arts and psychology from Clemson University in 2008. She received her doctorate in physical therapy from Boston University in 2019.
