NY Hot Dog Stands Named To Nation's Best List

Twelve hot dog stands around New York made the list of the top 75 in America.

Want a quick, fast meal? Then why not treat yourself to a hot dog? Especially today, which is National Hot Dog Day. If you are wondering where to get America’s best hot dogs, the people at The Daily Meal have done the leg work.

They started with a list of 200 hot dog joints — there are some familiar names on the list because they are known quantities — and narrowed it down to 75, including 12 in New York, with one in Westchester County.

Topping the list at No. 1 is Rutt’s Hut in Clifton, NJ, which according to The Daily Meal is known of the Ripper, a pork-and-beef Thumann’s link that is deep-fried until it, well, rips apart.

New York City's Katz's Deli, Feltman's and Gray's Papaya made the top 10.

The Daily Deal said Walter’s is “on the side of an unassuming road, in the unassuming little town of Mamaroneck,” and made note of the pagoda-shaped hot dog stand which is a nationally designated historical landmark.
