337 'Affordable' Apartments Up For Grabs In LIC's 5 Pointz Towers

Hundreds of rent-stabilized apartments are now available in Long Island City's 5 Pointz development, but only to those making over $63,000.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Hundreds of apartments in Long Island City's 5 Pointz towers have hit the "affordable" housing lottery, but only households making at least $63,000 are eligible to even apply, records show.

The two-tower complex, named for the famous graffiti site that its developer illegally whitewashed, will offer 337 rent-stabilized apartments catering to households that make at least 130 percent of the area's median income.

The available units include 78 studios renting for $1,850 a month, 180 one-bedroom apartments for $2,295 a month and 77 two-bedroom apartments for $2,775, according to the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

There is also a pair of three-bedroom apartments available for $3,200 in monthly rent.

Building amenities include an outdoor terrace, co-working lounge, library, gaming room, all-season swimming pool, indoor basketball court, 8,000-square-foot fitness center and six free months of high-speed internet from RCN.

Tenants will get a $750 gym and amenities membership voucher.
