48 Long Island City Apartments Hit 'Affordable' Housing Lottery
Monthly rents for the so-called "affordable" apartments start at $2,156 for a studio, records show.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Four dozen apartments in a new Long Island City building have hit the city's "affordable" housing lottery, but living there will still cost a pretty penny.
Monthly rents for the so-called "affordable" units at 45-57 Davis St. start at $2,156 for a studio and go up to $3,122 for a three-bedroom apartment, records show.
Only families making between $74,000 and $183,300 a year are eligible to apply, depending on the number of people in the household, according to the NYC Department of Housing Preservation and Development.

Tenants who meet the criteria will get to live in a new nine-story rental development with a wealth of amenities, including high-end kitchen appliances, a dishwasher, hardwood floors, air conditioning, high-speed internet, cable television, private and shared outdoor space, a gym, a children's playroom, an elevator and a shared laundry room.
The developer, Solomon Feder of Velocity Framers USA, is slated to receive tax breaks in exchange for providing the "affordable" units.
