Astoria's Most Expensive Condo Ever Sold

Apartment 5D in The Rowan goes for $1.7 million, eclipsing the old mark held by the building's penthouse, which sold last fall.

ASTORIA, QUEENS —The Rowan, located at 21-21 31st Street, continues to set sales records for properties in Astoria. Recently, a 1,355-square-foot unit on the building's fifth floor sold for $1.7 million, making it the most expensive condo ever sold in Astoria.

The previous record was the $1.65 million paid for The Rowan's penthouse last fall. The Rowan is a 46-unit condo building completed in the summer of 2020 by DXA Studio architects. While the prices may seem high, realtors point out they do compare favorably to similar properties in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

The record-breaking apartment, which is unit 5D, has two bedrooms, two baths and a 516-square-foot terrace. It sold for $1,264.13 per square foot.

Among the apartment's many amenities: Ceppo Di Gre marble island countertops in the kitchen, custom Brendan Ravenill Studio pendant light fixtures in the kitchen, Pelle Grigio marble tile in the master bathroom and a Bianco Carrara bamboo marble feature wall in the powder room.

Prior to the construction of The Rowan, the previous record condo sale in Astoria was in the East River Tower, where a penthouse sold for $1.6 million in 2018.
