Lottery Opens For 14 'Affordable' Apartments In Astoria
Monthly rents for the brand-new "affordable" apartments start at $2,241 for a studio, records show.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Fourteen brand-new apartments in Astoria have hit the affordable housing lottery, and the lucky winners will get to pay more than $2,200 a month to live there.
Applications are now open for a set of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments at 29-19 Newtown Ave., according to the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
But the units are only available to households raking in at least $63,429 a year and as much as $159,640, depending on how many people will live there, records show.

Families who manage to meet the requirements will be eligible to apply for a $2,241-a-month studio, a one-bedroom that rents for $2,362 or a two-bedroom apartment that asks $2,849 a month.
The elevator building's amenities include covered parking, bike storage, a shared laundry room, outdoor areas, a gym and a community center. Apartments have air conditioning and dishwashers.
