LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Rents in northwest Queens are continuing their ascent.

The median rental price in northwest Queens hit $3,000 in May, according to a new Douglas Elliman market report on real estate transactions in Long Island City, Astoria, Sunnyside and Woodside.

That's up from a median rent of $2,850 in April and $2,600 in May 2018, according to the report.

More than a third of the apartments included in the May report were in new developments, which report author Jonathan Miller said could affect the data.

"The higher the rental activity is in new development, the more subject to skew the trends are," Miller told The Real Deal.
