New 'Affordable' Apartments In LIC Call For $81K Income
Six apartments in Long Island City hit the "affordable" housing lottery, but families need to make a certain amount to apply.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS — Six apartments in Long Island City hit the "affordable" housing lottery, but families will need to make at least $81,000 a year to be able to even apply.
The "affordable" units at 21-59 44 Drive include three one-bedroom apartments that will rent for $2,362 a month and three two-bedroom apartments for $2,849, according to the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
Tenants who get to live there will have in-unit laundry, high-end kitchen appliances, a dishwasher, air conditioning and outdoor space in their apartment, as well as a gym, recycling center, elevator and bike storage lockers in the building.

Families must earn at least $80,983 combined to apply for a one-bedroom unit, and $97,680 to apply for a two-bedroom apartment, records show.
The units are priced at 130 percent of the area's median income, according to the Department of Housing Preservation and Development.
