New 'Affordable' Astoria Apartments Require $78K Income

Four new "affordable" apartments on Steinway Street are only available to households earning at least $78,858 a year.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Four new Astoria apartments have hit the affordable housing lottery — but they're only open to families earning at least $78,000 a year.

The city on Wednesday started accepting applications for four new one-bedroom apartments at 22-22 Steinway St. in Queens.

Each one-bedroom apartment rents for $2,300 a month. The building includes a card-operated laundry room, storage and parking for an additional fee.

Households must earn between $78,858 and $124,930 a year to qualify for the apartments.

To apply online, please go to nyc.gov/housingconnect. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to: 22-22 Steinway Street Apartments c/o Citi Habitats, 207 West 115th Street #32 New York, NY 10026.
