New 'Affordable' Long Island City Apartments Cost $2K A Month
You must earn more than $71,000 a year to apply for these 59 new units soon to be up for grabs on the city's affordable housing lottery.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS -- A fresh batch of "affordable" apartments will soon be up for grabs in Long Island City - if you make more than $71,000 a year, that is.
Nearly 60 new apartments at 11-39 49th Ave. in Hunters Point hit the NYC Housing Connect Lottery on Friday, but they're only available to households earning between $71,932 and $157,300 a year.
More than 80 percent of the spaces up for grabs are studio and one-bedroom apartments, which cost $2,098 and $2,251 per month, respectively, and are only available to households earning between $71,932 and $108,550 per year, city records show.

Six two-bedroom apartments are available at $2,714 per month for households earning between $93,052 and $135,590 annually. Four three-bedroom apartments are also up for $3,131 per month to households netting $107,349 to $157,300 per year.
Applications for the 59 new apartments are open May 24 through July 25, city records show.

The newly constructed 12-story building boasts access to a rooftop, gym, lounge and card-operated laundry room and bike storage, but you'll have to pay extra to use them, according to the NYC Housing Connect website. It's also near the G, 7, E and M trains, and bus stops along several Queens and Brooklyn routes.
