New Astoria 'Affordable' Apartments Require $79K Annual Income

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A new batch of "affordable" apartments in Astoria comes with salary requirements starting at $79,000 a year, records show.

The city started accepting applications Monday for five new "affordable" apartments at 25-40 31st St., but only households earning between $79,543 and $124,930 are eligible to apply.

The five apartments are all one-bedroom units and cost $2,320 in monthly rent.

The newly-constructed building offers a roof deck recreation area, parking and a bike room, but accessing those amenities requires an additional fee.
