A tiny Shih Tzu was found tied up inside an abandoned Bed-Stuy building this week with barely any hair left on his head, according to the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC).

Shelter workers have since named the dog Joseph and set about nursing him back to health.

“Joseph is in horrible condition covered in filth and full of mats,” the animal shelter wrote on its Facebook page. ”With time he will clean up and look as sweet as he really is.”

Vinny Spinola, BARC’s vice president, added that the dog was “starving and badly abused” when he was found.

Spinola told DNAinfo that Joseph had been chained up inside an abandoned home on Greene Avenue between Malcolm X Boulevard and Patchen Avenue. “It could have been benign neglect, but I don’t think so,” he said. “He was starving and totally emaciated.”

BARC is now asking for donations — which can be made through the shelter’s website — to “help this cutie out.”
