'Affordable' Apartments In Bed-Stuy Require $75K Salary

BED-STUY, BROOKLYN — A building in Bed-Stuy has hit the affordable housing lottery, but only for those making at least $75,000 per year, records show.

The 1255 Bedford Ave. building — which has two one-bedroom spots up for grabs — is available to those making at least 130 percent of the area's median income, or at least $75,429.

It includes an elevator, patio or balcony, rooftop terrace, shared laundry room and bike storage lockers, according to the listing.

Each of the one-bedroom spots costs $2,200 per month.

The building will be on the Department of Housing Preservation and Development's affordable housing lottery until the end of May.

It is one of several in and around Bed-Stuy where apartments are up for grabs.

Also on Bedford Avenue, there are four one-bedroom and one two-bedroom apartments at 1044 Bedford Ave., found near the Clinton Hill border. Those spots are also going to those making 130 percent of the median income, or at least $70,286 for the one-bedroom spots.

Other North Brooklyn buildings on the affordable housing lottery include developments on Harman Street, Grand Street, St. Marks Avenue, Hart Street, Clifton Place, Greenpoint Avenue, North Fifth Street, Ainsle Street and Humboldt Street.
