'Affordable' Bed-Stuy Studios Cost $2,188 A Month, City Says

A batch of "affordable" Bed-Stuy studios hitting the housing market Friday require applicants earn more than $75,000 a year.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A batch of "affordably" priced Bed-Stuy studios slated to hit the housing market this week are only available to people who earn more than $75,000 a year, city records show.

Eleven apartments at 410 Tompkins Ave. will become available through the city's NYC Housing Connect lottery on Friday, but only to households earning 130 percent of the area median income, the new listing shows.

The four studios cost $2,188 a month and will be available only to individuals with an annual income between $75,018 and $97,110 or couples earning between $75,018 and $111,020 a year, records show.

Seven one-bedrooms that cost $2,305 a month will be available only to households of up to three people bringing in between $79,029 and $124,930 a year.

The six-story, 35-unit building on the corner of Tompkins Avenue and Halsey Street stands across the street from one of Bed-Stuy's most well known restaurants, Peaches HotHouse.

Building amenities include a gym, rooftop access and laundry room residents must pay to use.

Those who meet the city's income requirements have until July 22 to apply through the NYC Housing Connect website.
