'Affordable' Brooklyn Apartments Require $76K Salary
Three units are available through the affordable housing lottery in this Schaefer Street building.

BROOKLYN, NY — Three apartments are up for grabs on the affordable housing lottery on the Bed-Stuy border, but only for those making at least $76,000 per year.
The one-bedroom spots are available in a new building at 61 Schaefer St., found off of Bushwick Avenue.
They will go to those making 130 percent of the area median income, or at least $76,286 per year for one person or a combined $76,286 per year if more than one person is applying to live in the apartment.

Each apartment will cost $2,225 per month.
According to the listing with the city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development, the owner is offering two and a half months free rent and furnishing for the apartments.

The building also comes with in-unit washer and dryers, a patio or balcony, a rooftop terrace and are pet-friendly.
It joins several other Brooklyn buildings on the affordable housing lottery.
Among them are the Debevoise Senior Housing development, the Harry T. Nance Apartments on Eastern Parkway and The Garnet, which has nearly 100 spots open on Fulton Street.
The Astra, also in Bed-Stuy, has 89 apartments up for grabs. Those units are available to New Yorkers at four different income brackets, including those who make 40 percent of the area median income, or as little as $20,160 per year for the studio.
