Bed-Stuy Getting $55M Senior Housing Center, Developers Say
A new housing complex rising on a Herkimer Street lot will bring more than 100 senior-friendly apartments to Bed-Stuy, developers said.

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A $55 million housing project that will bring more than 100 supportive senior apartments to Bed-Stuy, according to developers.
Herkimer Gardens, an 118-unit building, is slated to rise on a parking lot at 483 Herkimer St. near Interfaith Medical Center by April 2022, with funding from Gov. Cuomo's $1.4 billion Vital Brooklyn initiative, according to a CSD Housing, LLC listing.
The development rising on the 21,000-square-foot is one of four state-funded housing projects that will bring roughly 2,700 affordable units into central Brooklyn, according to Federation of Organizations, the project's developers

Herkimer Gardens will include on-site urgent care facilities, a wellness and physical therapy center, recreational space and a food assistance center, according to CSD Housing, a consultancy agency that specializes in nonprofit developments.
Plans were approved by the New York State Homes and Community Renewal, the state's affordable housing agency, developers said.
