BED-STUY, NY — Booming real estate prices have put long-time Bed-Stuy residents in a bind that local groups aim to stop.

The Bed-Stuy Housing Initiative will hold a workshop Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m. The city-organized project spent the past year working with residents and community organizations in the neighborhood.

The workshop held in Restoration Plaza's community room III at 1368 Fulton St. will have an open house where residents can attend anytime until 8:30 p.m. Organizers bill it as a chance to provide feedback on strategies to protect and support tenants and homeowners. People who attend can also learn about future affordable housing and community amenities on city-owned land.
