Nearly 200 Apartments Hit Affordable Housing Lottery In Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY — Nearly 200 apartments have hit the affordable housing lottery on Fulton Street, some for those making as little as $14,640 per year, records show.

The studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments are up for grabs in a new building known as 50 Penn found at 2628 Fulton Street just a few blocks from the Broadway Junction station.

The 219-unit building includes apartments for those making between 30 and 80 percent of the area median income.

The cheapest, at the 30-percent income level, will go to those making at least $14,640 per year. At that level, there are five studios, 10 one-bedrooms, five two-bedrooms and two three-bedrooms available.

There are seven studios, 15 one-bedrooms, eight two-bedrooms and three three-bedroom spots available at both the 40-percent and 50-percent income level.

Applicants for those spots should make at least $20,023 at the 40-percent level and $25,372 at the 50-percent level for a studio apartment.

At the 60-percent income level, there are five studios, 17 one-bedrooms, 17 two-bedrooms and five three-bedrooms up for grabs. Applicants should make at least $30,755 per year for the studios.

Finally, at the 80-percent income level, there are 11 studios, 18 one-bedrooms, nine two-bedrooms and five three-bedrooms up for grabs. The minimum income level for a studio in that bracket is $41,486, records show.

The Fulton Street building comes with an outdoor terrace, bicycle storage, community rooms, an elevator and an on-site laundry room.
