BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, BROOKLYN — A planned Bed-Stuy development will boast 12 spacious abodes and a mezzanine in the shadow of a hardscrabble public housing complex.

Developers filed plans last week to build a six-story building at 96 Tompkins Ave., a lot near Myrtle Avenue, according to Department of Buildings records.

There will be 12 housing units of about 1,168 square feet each, meaning they likely will be condos, New York Yimby first reported. It will have a mezzanine, cellar, a communal area and space in the back lot, the permit states.

The lot faces the Tompkins Houses, a NYCHA public housing complex.

The Tompkins Avenue permit doesn't give a completion date, but it appears the developers — or someone — will have to clear up an outstanding stop work order on the property. A past construction crew left the site in an unsafe condition, according to past complaints.
