These Affordable Brooklyn Apartments Have $0 Salary Requirement
More than 40 apartments for seniors have hit the affordable housing lottery for those making between $0 and $39,800 per year.

BROOKLYN, NY — A slate of apartments in North Brooklyn have hit the affordable housing lottery for seniors.
The 44 studio and one-bedroom units are found in a building on Debevoise Street near the Williamsburg and Bed-Stuy border and require at least one person in the household is 62 years and older.
They are available to those who make between $0 and $39,800 per year. Should a household of two people apply for one apartment, they should make no more than $45,500 combined. Three people should make no more than $51,200 combined salary, according to the listing.

The building includes bike storage lockers, a shared laundry room, a community center, outdoor areas, a recreation room and an elevator. It was built through the city's Senior Affordable Rental Apartments (SARA) and Inclusionary Housing Programs.
Applications are open until May 17.

The Debevoise Senior Housing joins several other Brooklyn buildings on the affordable housing lottery.
One building, Harry T. Nance Apartments, has more than 50 spots open on Eastern Parkway.
Another, in Bed-Stuy, is The Garnet, which has nearly 100 spots open on Fulton Street. In that building, units are available at the 50-percent, 100-percent and 150-percent area median income bracket.
The Astra, also in Bed-Stuy, has 89 apartments up for grabs. Those units are available to New Yorkers at four different income brackets, including those who make 40 percent of the area median income, or as little as $20,160 per year for the studio.
