Some people just want room to stretch out. For those people, bit houses are great. So we found some of the biggest houses on the market (by square footage) for those that need a lot of elbow room.

According to the Census Bureau, American homes are getting bigger. The average home is 2,687 square feet — more than 1,000 square feet bigger than back in the 1970s. But even though the average homes are larger, there are many that are above average. And Long Island has quite a few.
