90-Year-Old Man Seriously Injured After Falling Down Storm Drain

The Central Islip man fell 10 feet down the drain in front of his apartment complex Saturday afternoon.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A 90-year-old man was seriously injured after falling down a storm drain outside a Central Islip apartment complex Saturday afternoon, according to Suffolk police.

Officers responded to a 911 call regarding a man who fell 10 feet down a storm drain outside the complex on Medea Way at 1:15 p.m.

Officers from the Emergency Service Section, as well as members of the Central Islip Fire Department, responded and pulled the man, a resident of the complex, out of the storm drain.

He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries.
