Brentwood High School Closed Until Nov. Due To COVID-19 Cases
The school will go full remote for two weeks after seven students and one staff member reportedly tested positive for coronavirus.
BRENTWOOD, NY — The Brentwood School District announced on Monday that it will be closed for the next two weeks due to the number of coronavirus cases. According to a letter from Superintendent Richard Loeschner, the district was notified by the Suffolk County Department of Health that a Brentwood High School School staff member tested positive for COVID-19.
Loeschner wrote that many students and staff members may have been in contact with the staff member that tested positive, making it nearly impossible to quarantine just a few staff members and students. As a result, out of an abundance of caution in order to to avoid any exposure in the building, health officials and the district have recommended that the high school remain closed starting Tuesday through Friday, Oct. 30.
During that time, all students and staff will follow a fully remote schedule until in-person learning resumes on Monday, Nov. 2.
