Brentwood residents graduate from Farmingdale State College

Two students win prestigious academic award

Cassandra Castano (degree in Horticulture/Landscape Development) and Maria Henderson (degree in Biology/Bioscience) residents of Brentwood, have graduated from Farmingdale State College with a Student Award for Academic Excellence.

Castano studied Interactive Design in Scotland last summer, and placed third in the Long Island Nursery and Landscape Design competition in 2018. Henderson co-authored a paper on cancer research.

Each year Farmingdale State College bestows “Awards for Academic Excellence” on two students in each major who have been selected by the faculty as truly outstanding. The primary consideration for selection is the student’s overall grade point average in coursework completed at Farmingdale. Additional consideration is given to exceptional performance in areas including research, internships, special student projects, and contribution to departmental clubs and honor societies.
