It's A Boy: EMTs Assist In Unexpected Delivery

A baby boy made his speedy entrance into the world Wednesday night.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — It's a boy! Members of the Central Islip-Hauppauge Volunteer Ambulance Corps helped deliver a baby who made his speedy entrance into the world in Central Islip Wednesday night.

At 8:14 p.m., EMTs responded to Atlantic Street after receiving a maternity call. The two EMTs that arrived found the mother complaining of feeling close contractions and the "need to push."

One of the EMTs, Bryant Figueroa, check for signs of delivery when the mother started pushing. He then noticed that the mother was crowning and helped her deliver the baby.

The other EMT, Warda Ali, took the baby to dry him and cut the umbilical cord. Then both the mother and baby were taken to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore with an escort by Suffolk County police.

Mother and baby are reportedly doing well.
