Man Critically Injured After Being Struck By Car In Central Islip

The 44-year-old was struck while crossing Suffolk Avenue Sunday night.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY — A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car in Central Islip Sunday night, according to Suffolk police.

Vicente Monterroso, 44, was crossing Suffolk Avenue on foot from north to south, near Carleton Avenue, when he was struck by an eastbound 2016 Honda CRV at 9 p.m., police said

He was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore in critical condition. The driver of the Honda, a 31,-year-old Ronkonkoma man, was not injured.
