Press release from the Town of Islip:
October 29, 2020
Islip, NY – October 27, 2020 – Today, Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and NYS Assemblyman Phil Ramos announced plans to upgrade Vazquez Park in Brentwood with a new playground structure and swings, the result of a $125,000 DASNY grant secured by Assemblyman Ramos. The playground is expected to be completed by spring 2021, and will be installed on a rubberized play surface, appropriate for children ages 2-12.
“People complain about paying taxes and ask, ‘what am I getting for my tax dollar,’ said Supervisor Carpenter. “When they see a park in their neighborhood improved, their quality of life is better, their home value is higher, and it really gives them such a good feeling,” said the Supervisor. The replacement of this playground marks more than 50 new playgrounds installed in the Town of Islip since Supervisor Carpenter took office.
The existing playground at Vazquez Park is 14 years old, and was installed in 2006.
