Baseball Pitching Prospect Michael Nolan, 23, Dies

The Yonkers resident was the victim of a drive-by shooting in September.

Michael Nolan, the 23-year-old Yonkers resident and Oakland A’s pitching prospect, has died, according to published reports.

Nolan was the victim of a Sept. 18 drive-by shooting in a Burger King parking lot in Yonkers, having been struck in the head and arm. He was declared brain dead late this week at Jacobi Medical Center and then fatally succumbed to his injuries, according to WCBS-TV.

His organs will be donated, according to his parents, Donna and Jimmy Nolan.

No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting, but the investigation is continuing.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano and the Oakland Athletics both sent condolences to the Nolan family via Twitter, with Spano saying Michael was a “bright and talented son,” and the A’s saying Nolan will always be a part of the team’s family.
