Bronxville's Thomas Jakelich, 16, Dies after Suffering Soccer Injury
He was playing for Loyola School in New York City.

Sixteen-year-old Bronxville resident Thomas Jakelich died Monday after suffering an injury in a collision during a soccer game in New York City, reports the New York Post.
Jakelich was a junior at Loyola School in Manhattan, and he was playing in a game against United Nations International School when he collided with an opposing player.
He reportedly was conscious while he was being taken to Harlem Hospital Center, where doctors discovered he was bleeding internally and that he suffered a lacerated liver, writes The Journal News.

Jakelich died following multiple surgeries late Monday night, several hours after the game.
“He was doing the thing he loved very much,” Jakelich’s stepfather, Rick Newman, told the Post.

His school held a mass in his honor Wednesday morning and provided grief counselors.
