Chapel School 8th Grader Establishes Scholarship

Chapel School 8th Grader Establishes Blue Ribbon Foundation Upstander and Ally Scholarship!

The family of Sydnei McKnight, a member of The Chapel School's (TCS) Class of 2021, has established a special scholarship in her name through The Blue Ribbon Foundation. The Sydnei McKnight Upstander & Ally Scholarship winner will be selected based on a letter of recommendation and an essay that describes the importance of being and upstander and ally, and perhaps even describes when they were an upstander or ally for someone else. The winner will be recognized at TCS's Baccalaureate Service in June, and they will receive $500 per year for each year they attend The Chapel Middle School.

The scholarship beautifully represents The Blue Ribbon Foundation's Vision and Purpose, which is to provide enriched and engaging programming so the students of The Chapel School thrive academically, socially, and emotionally and lead others toward love and justice in an ever-changing, multidimensional world.

When asked about the Sydnei McKnight Upstander & Ally Scholarship , Sydnei said, “Making a difference is not always easy. Throughout my life, I battled with finding my place and fitting in. It often made me question who my true friends are and who I want to be. As a member of my generation, I believe it's important to be an Ally and Upstander. It is important to choose yourself, but it is also important to 'choose people who choose you'."
