Concordia College student-athletes received the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Men's Tennis Player and Rookie of the Week on Monday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) released its weekly awards on Monday afternoon, with Concordia College New York men’s tennis senior Eymeric Chevalier (Bordeaux, France) earning Player Of The Week honors while freshman Jan Godfrey Seno (Cebu City, Philippines) received Rookie of the Week distinction.

Chevalier went undefeated for the 44th-ranked Clippers in two matches, claiming back-to-back straight-set triumphs at the top singles position via a 6-1, 6-0 result over Nino Krneta from Post University and a 6-2, 6-3 victory against the University of the Sciences’ Borna Markusic. In doubles action, the senior paired up alongside sophomore Henry Masters (Northampton, England) for a 6-4 victory over Samuel Uran and Ivan Rajevac from Post at the third position before a 6-2 triumph against Markusik and Sahas Chandragiri from USciences at the second flight.

Half of the 14th-ranked doubles duo in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National Poll, Chevalier holds a 10-5 record in doubles action this season on top of a 5-6 mark in singles play with all his dual-match decisions at the Clippers' top position. It is his first honor from the conference this season and third in his career, garnering All-Conference First Team distinction last season with one Player of the Week nod.

Godfrey Seno won all four of his matches last week, winning back-to-back 6-2 decisions on the top doubles court alongside sophomore William Nilsson (Bastad, Sweden) over Post’s Krneta and Jonathan Compres plus Nathan Nguyen and Jack Kosiorowski of USciences. In singles play, the freshman remained undefeated in dual-match action behind a 6-2, 6-1 victory against Joe Alvord from Post on court six and a 6-1, 6-1 win against Nguyen at the fourth position.

Godfrey Seno leads Concordia with nine triumphs this spring, adding five victories in doubles to match Nilsson for the most combined dual-match wins on the team. It’s his first accolade from the league office.
