CT Man Accused Of Shooting, Killing Man In Yonkers

Claismar Abreu-Then, of Hartford, Connecticut, was charged in Hartford and is awaiting extradition to Westchester County, police said.

YONKERS, NY — A Connecticut man was accused of shooting and killing a man in Yonkers Sunday.

The Yonkers Police Department said Claismar Abreu-Then, 27, of Hartford, Connecticut, was charged in Hartford on weapons and drug crimes and is awaiting extradition to Westchester County on a charge of second-degree murder, a felony.

Abreu-Then was taken into custody Thursday by members of the Yonkers police, Hartford police and FBI Northern Connecticut Violent Crime and Gang Task Force.

He was accused of killing Joseph Pichardo, 24, in the first-floor hallway of 54 Fairview St. in Yonkers Sunday.

Police investigators said they believe Abreu-Then and Pichardo knew each other, and the shooting was the culmination of an on-going dispute between the two men.

Authorities said Abreu-Then approached Pichardo in the hallway and shot him multiple times before fleeing the location.

Subsequent to his arrest, police in Hartford said they recovered an illegal 9mm handgun and some fentanyl pills.
