Doctor Arrested With Weapons Cache Pleads Not Guilty
Police said the Long Island plastic surgeon had made threats against his estranged wife.

TUCKAHOE, NY — The Long Island plastic surgeon who was arrested after being found with a large cache of weapons pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday. Dr. Matthew Bonanno, 47, faces 11 counts of second-degree and 37 counts of third-degree and 37 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, as well as four misdemeanor weapons charges.
Bonanno's attorney said his client had been late in registering the guns, the Journal news reported, and that his ex-wife was standing by him.
Police said Bonanno, a Great Neck, Nassau County, resident, had made threats against his estranged wife, who lives in Tuckahoe.

On Aug. 12, someone who heard the threats called the police who went to Growler's Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe.
Police took him into custody after they said they found Bonanno to be illegally in possession of a loaded Glock semi-automatic handgun.

A subsequent search of the his car led to the discovery of other weapons, including five assault rifles that were fully loaded with high capacity magazine, three handguns, more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, a stun gun, heavy ballistic body armor, handcuffs, brass knuckles and scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia.
Other weapons were found at a home in Mount Pleasant and at his Long Island residence.
