Eastchester Carnival a Big Success

People from Eastchester's Immaculate Conception Church and School say they are very happy about how their four-day carnival panned out this year. The annual School Year-End Carnival ran from Thursday up until Sunday. The carnival was the place to be this past weekend for amusement rides, games and delicious food.

Father Eric Raaser, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church and Maureen Harten, principal of Immaculate Conception School both tell Patch that they would like to sincerely thank the parishioners and the local community for coming out to support the annual ICS Carnival.
Back in 2010, four people were arrested after a series of fights broke out at the carnival. This year, school and church officials made sure that security was in place. School and church officials tell Patch that "It was very successful and they would like to especially thank the local police and the County Police for their tremendous support this year, and for providing such excellent security." Because of their presence, school and church officials say "It proved to be a very safe and fun-filled event."
The cash that is made from the carnival is used to fund Immaculate Conception school's future projects.

"It's just good for the community, especially during these tough economic times," said Immaculate Conception Rev. Eric Raaser. "People come and enjoy -- there's laughter -- and it's not that expensive. Everyone enjoys the rides and the food is very good. Just to have that camaraderie of the people. It's important to us, especially since there is so much sadness in the world. With little things like this, it's good to enjoy life"
