Harrison School District's Josh Elder will become Eastchester Middle School's new assistant principal. Elder is currently the assistant principal of Harrison High.
Current Middle School Principal Walter Moran is moving into the District's superintendent position, replacing outgoing superintendent Marilyn Terranova. In turn, the current Middle School assistant principal, Scott Wynne, has been promoted to the position of middle school principal.
Elder beat out 300 applicants for the position and went through a number of rounds of interviews.
“Throughout the interview process, Josh demonstrated superior knowledge of teaching and learning. He is well-versed in a wide variety of instructional strategies," said Scott Wynne, who led the search committee. "Josh displayed an impressive working knowledge of student management, leadership skills and a collaborative work ethic.”
Elder says he's eager to join the team.
"Looking forward to joining a learning community that is committed to the success of all students," said Elder. "Throughout the interview process, it was evident that a core value of Eastchester School District is that students come first."
