Hispanic Police Officer Claims Retaliation For Lawsuit
The officer is suing the town of Eastchester, the police department and the police chief.
EASTCHESTER, NY — A Hispanic Eastchester police officer who is suing the town for discrimination was disciplined for making an "unlawful arrest."
Officer Anthony Barberan was put on paid administrative leave in January by Eastchester Police Chief Tim Bonci, the Journal News reported.
The attorney for Barberan said he believes the disciplinary action was in retaliation for legal action against the town of Eastchester, the police department, Lt. Jeffrey Hunter and Bonci.
