MD Accused Of Stockpiling Weapons Wants Ankle Monitor Off
The LI resident who has a home in Mt Pleasant was arrested after a report that he had threatened to kill his family, who live in Tuckahoe.

TUCKAHOE, NY — The plastic surgeon who prosecutors say was found with stashes of weapons in his homes and in his car — by police responding to a report that he threatened to kill his family — wants his ankle monitor removed, The Journal News reported.
Dr. Matthew Bonanno, 47, has been out on bail since late November. His lawyer, Paul Gentile, was in Westchester County Court Tuesday asking to have the ankle monitor removed because he has found it difficult to bathe and exercise.
Westchester County Judge George Fufidio recommended Bonanno wrap his ankle in a plastic bag instead.

He was in Tuckahoe when he was arrested in August after the friend he was drinking with at Growler's Beer Bistro called police about the threat.
Police who went to the bar said they found Bonanno to be illegally in possession of a loaded Glock semi-automatic handgun.
After they took him into custody, they alleged they found an arsenal in his BMW, which was parked outside his ex-wife's home.
After that, police searched his homes in Mount Pleasant and on Long Island, and found more weapons, they said.
The weapons confiscated included five assault rifles that were fully loaded with high capacity magazines, three handguns, more than 1,600 rounds of ammunition, a stun gun, heavy ballistic body armor, handcuffs, brass knuckles and scopes, binoculars and other paraphernalia.
Bonanno pleaded not guilty in September to 11 counts of second-degree and 37 counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felonies, as well as four misdemeanor weapons charges.
His lawyer said at that time that his client had just been late in registering the guns. Gentile has asked a state appellate court to move the case out of Westchester to Bronx County Court because it has received so much publicity.
