Police Identify Victim Of Fatal Stabbing
The man had an argument on May 23 with a group of people he knew.
YONKERS, NY — A man stabbed in the neck during a group fight May 23 has died, Yonkers police announced. He is identified as Kentrail Newton, a 25-year-old resident of Warburton Avenue.
Members of the Yonkers Police Department responded to 1 Schroeder St. at 12:37 a.m. that morning. They located the victim with a life-threatening laceration to his neck; first responders rendered medical aid to the man and transported him to a local area trauma center where he was placed on artificial life support and listed in grave condition.
The area was cordoned off and a criminal investigation was initiated.

Detectives from the Major Case Unit and Crime Scene Unit responded to the scene, interviewing subjects and witnesses, reviewing surveillance video, and processing forensic evidence.
Police said the victim and a group on Schroeder Street, who were known to each other, engaged in a dispute that escalated into violence. A person emerged from the group and struck out at the victim with a sharp instrument causing severe injury to the victim’s neck; the victim collapsed at scene and the person fled.

Investigators are working the case and actively developing information in an effort to identify the perpetrator and effect an arrest, police said.
