"The closure is not related to the COVID-19 pandemic and does not reflect the health of the co-op at large," she said in an email to Patch. "In fact, we’ve opened seven new stores this year in addition to piloting two used gear pop-up stores."

A posting to customers on the store's website thanked them for nine great years and said the last day an order can be placed will be Jan. 24, and the last day a bicycle can be dropped off for servicing is Jan. 29.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this article stated that the closure was related to the coronavirus pandemic, which a previous WARN notice from New York State said.
