Six Eastchester Scouts Earn Eagle Scout Honors
The six are members of Troop 353 – Eastchester NY, and they will be honored during a ceremony Feb. 28.

The following announcement is from Troop 353 – Eastchester NY:
Derek Cheung, 18, of Eastchester, Tenneth Fairclough, 17, of the Bronx, Andrew Mrose, 17, of Yonkers, Matthew Occhicone, 16, of Eastchester, Noah Orlando, 18, of Eastchester and Alejandro Urbina, 16, of Bronxville, have earned the highest achievement award the Boy Scouts of America offers to Scouts, the Eagle Scout award.
The six young men will be recognized in ceremonies at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Immaculate Conception Church located at 53 Winter Hill Road, Tuckahoe NY 10707.

Members of Troop 353 – Eastchester NY, the six young men are a group of scouts that make up approximately 4 percent of all Boy Scouts nationwide who attain the rank of Eagle, according to Scoutmaster David Flannery.
Each candidate must earn a minimum of 21 merit badges and successfully organize and lead a community service project to earn the Eagle award. The project demonstrates the ideals of leadership and community service that is the foundation of the scouting program. The six chose to plan and complete the following individual projects:

Derek Cheung - Restored a pathway and beautified the rear landscape of the American Legion Hall in Eastchester
Tenneth Fairclough – Rehabilitated the Cardinal Spellman High School Boy’s Gym Locker Rooms to provide a better working atmosphere for both students and staff.
Andrew Mrose – Collaborated with Habitat for Humanity of Westchester to improve the condition of a house’s backyard, which expedited the completion of the house allowing it to be presented to the owner, a veteran, on Veteran’s Day.
Matthew Occhicone – Educated various community organizations on US flag etiquette in addition to collecting and retiring US flags in a respectful manner.
Noah Orlando – Designed, manufactured and installed flag holders alongside headstones for the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) at the Holy Mount cemetery in Eastchester.
Alejandro Urbina - Planned and conducted an iPod and CD music drive to replicate the Music and Memory music therapy program for seniors with dementia at the Michael Malotz long-term care facility in Yonkers NY.
The six young men join other outstanding American citizens who have become Eagle Scouts, among them former President Gerald R. Ford, Jr., astronaut Neil A. Armstrong, cinematographer Steven Spielberg, the head of the FBI William Sessions and former Secretary of Defense, head of the Central Intelligence Agency and university president Robert M. Gates.
