We are dog groomers who have been working in this field for over 10 years. We are a small salon that gives individualized services to match the needs of every unique dog we groom.

How did you come up with the name?

I wanted a fun name that is easily recognizable as a dog grooming salon. Groom Spot is a play on words. We are the spot to get your dog groomed and we also groom dogs named Spot!

Why start a business in this town?

We carefully choose the Crestwood section of Tuckahoe after looking at other locations in lower Westchester. It was the perfect size and we love the small town feel this community brings.

What’s the most difficult challenge you’ve faced as a business owner?

The biggest challenge I faced was being taken seriously as a young female entrepreneur. I had done my research and came prepared but was often disregarded by officials. With the help of some mentors and an attorney, I able to get through the paperwork and approval process.

What’s been your proudest achievement since opening?

My proudest achievement has been how much we have grown in the three years since opening. My husband and I are both grooming full time with clients waiting up to two weeks for an appointment. We have so many wonderful families who have welcomed us into their dog's life and we appreciate the chance to get to know each one.

How does your business give back to the community?

Every year we participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay for life. Next year we will have a team at Bark for Life. These are great events for the community that make it fun to raise donations for a good cause.
